Gwen, I love your synopsis of the story! Your character summery of the “players” in Hill House is spot on. I especially appreciate your description of Eleanor as a 1950’s repressed, neurotic woman having a “friendship fling” with the extroverted Theo. Your awareness of the characters flaws is perceptive and I appreciate that you view them in a sympathetic light. I find it interesting as well that the Scientist Dr. M certainly lacked any equipment useful in ghost hunting, in fact the only tools used was a board by his wife!

I know right! Mrs. Montague was a VERY odd character in the book, but, like you say – at least SHE thought to bring some equipment along for her ghost hunt!
